What is CLEAR?

CLEAR is the next-generation of mobile internet. Powered by WiMAX, our new network allows you to go anywhere in our coverage area and get super fast mobile internet. So you can stream movies, watch TV, plan online games and video chat on the go, at speeds as fast as your CLEAR home service. Try doing that with today's 2G or the internet from the cell phone companies.

What is WiMAX?

The Clear Network is powered by WiMAX, which is specifically designed for high-speed internet data usage. In non-nerd speak, that translates to fast. Like really, really fast. And WiMAX is more than just fast. Unlike WiFi, it reaches miles not feet, so you can go anywhere in CLEAR coverage and get speeds as fast as at home or the office. So unless you enjoy being chained to a table at the coffee shop listening to some random pop-music compilation they're trying to sell you, you're gonna be pretty psyched.

What are the benefits of upgrading to CLEAR?

With CLEAR, you'll have an opportunity for getting faster speeds, find more places to connect in our expanded coverage area and be one of the first to be using WiMAX, the next generation mobile internet.

Can I keep my Clearwire email address?

Yes. If you currently have a clearwire.net email address, you will continue to use this email.

Will I still have my Static IPs?

If you have Clearwire Static IPs, please review the special instructions that were sent to you by email. You will need to set up your new CLEAR Static IP BEFORE you connect your new CLEAR modem.

How do I set up my new Static IP?

To get a new Static IP address assigned, please follow the below steps BEFORE plugging in your new upgraded WiMAX modem. (If you have more than one static IP address, please contact our support team at 877-969-7906 for assistance.)

1. Login to your account.
2. Select "Internet" from the top navigation bar.
3. In the Static IP Addresses section, click on "Set up static IP".
4. Enter the MAC address of your new modem and click "Continue". A new IP address will be assigned.
5. Plug in your new modem and start surfing!

Please note: It may take up to 5 days for your new CLEAR Static IP to propagate. Don't worry. You can still go online using your CLEAR WiMAX modem during this time. (You will not be able to access your device remotely until the new Static IP is propagated.)

Does my HPP (Hardware Protection Package) apply to my upgraded CLEAR modem?

Yes. HPP will continue with your upgraded modem.

I have Clearwire Home Voice service. Will this still work?

Yes. Your Voice service will remain the same. Simply plug your current Phone Adapter into your new WiMAX modem and you're all set to start talking.

Will my account information change?

There's no risk, no contract extension and no additional fees when you upgrade to CLEAR. All of your account information, including your payment information, login credentials for accessing My Account, bill cycle date and contract length will remain the same during the upgrade process.

After I complete the upgrade process, how long will it be before I can start using CLEAR WiMAX?

You will continue to use your Clearwire modem to access the Internet until you receive your new CLEAR modem. Once you receive your modem, or once we send you an email, you will plug in and use your super fast CLEAR modem to access the Internet.

Do I have to upgrade to CLEAR?

Yes. Your upgrade to CLEAR is mandatory and will need to be completed as soon as possible to avoid any interruption of your service.

How will I know when my area is being upgraded to CLEAR?

Clearwire will notify you by mail, email, phone and internet messaging when it is time for you to upgrade to CLEAR. It is very important that your contact information is up to date. To update your contact information, please log into MyAccount or call customer care at 888-Clearwire.

What do I do with my old modem?

We've made it easy for you to return your old modem to us. You will receive a pre-paid UPS return label by email, and in the package of your new device, so you can return your equipment to us free of charge. We promise to take good care of your old equipment and have arranged for a recycling program.

No. We've got you covered. All you need to do is plug in your new CLEAR modem when you receive it, and return your Clearwire modem using the pre-paid shipping label.
